INVENT- COMPETE - TEST
During this meeting for inventors, innovators, entrepreneurs and amateurs, the major areas of innovation will be addressed in keynote lectures and illustrated by a contest for start-ups.
Our energy future, our mobility and our cities, presented by experts and prestigious guests including Bertrand Piccard, head of the Solar Impulse project, and Alejandro Agag, founder of the international Formula E championship.
“I wanted to go in search of new ideas blowing in the wind, to try and walk better on Earth in my role as doctor and human being.”
His dual identity of doctor and explorer makes Bertrand Piccard a voice that people listen to within the greatest institutions, which today consider him an influential opinion leader on the topics of progress and sustainability. An independent speaker not affiliated with any lobby group or political party, Piccard is a credible advisor for research into new social solutions and a much sought-after speaker at public and private conferences.
Leaving well-trodden paths and exploring and achieving the impossible are in his DNA going back 3 generations. He demonstrated this amply in his non-stop flight around the world in a balloon and on the zero-fuel solar airplane Solar Impulse with his teammate André Borschberg. If the depths and the stratosphere attracted his father and grandfather, it is the great challenges of our time that fascinate Bertrand. He aspires not just to explore new territories, but to discover new ways of thinking and doing so as to improve the quality of life on earth.
CEO FORMULA E
Alejandro Agag holds a diploma in economics and commerce from the Colegio Universiario de Estudios Financieros (CUNEF) in Madrid. It is there that his interest in the world of politics began, as he became personal assistant to the Spanish prime minister. In 1999 he won a seat in the European Parliament at the age of 28, thereby becoming the youngest Spanish to gain such a position. In 2001 he decided to leave politics and get involved in motor sport.
In 2012, Alejandro and his economic partner Enrique Bañuelos founded Formula E Holdings Ltd to be the exclusive promoters of the new FIA Formula E Championship, which is for all-electric racing cars. The clean energy championship is organized at the centre of global cities, where environmental challenges and rapid urban growth require urgent solutions in clean mobility.
Alejandro sees research and development of electric racing cars as a catalyst for developing clean city cars. He is determined to revolutionize the world of clean mobility on race tracks and on city streets and to foster consumer markets.
